looks like the panic's over, but we were getting very nervous there for a moment. Sarah went to see the GP this morning for a routine scan. Unfortunately the midwife wasn't available for a couple of weeks, so she had to go to our (incredibly unsympathetic) GP. The Doctor was worried that sarah was potentially in breach (baby's head not at the bottom), so sarah had to go to the hospital for a scan. if the baby had been in breach, then she may have had to go in for a caesarian NEXT WEEK, but it appears that the baby's head is in the right place. However, the sonographer took some measurements, and the baby's estimated current weight is 8 pounds 3 ounces. Let me just repeat that for effect - current weight of 8 pounds, 3 ounces! - and it's still got three weeks to grow, where it could gain up to a pound a week!
i've realised today that i've reached a great step in my life, and can admit that i probably like radio 2 more than radio 1. sarah was listening to it in the car, and it actually sounded really good. i was suspicious by the fact that i was listening to a lot of radio 4, and was able to excuse that as having an avid interest in world events, but now must concede that middle-age is catching up with sarah and i.
