Sunday was pretty low key. We had a breakfast for Mother's Day, then people went off to church.
On the Monday, we went to the Hollywood Studios part of DisneyWorld. Emma was initially excited to see all of the shops but we had done some work beforehand to manage her expectations as to how much time she would spend in shops. Both her and Michael had received $150 each from my family as birthday presents for spending money for the holiday. One of my children was more successful than the other at spending the money. You can probably work out which one that was.....
There were lots of rides and shows pitched at about Michael and Emma's level. They are too old for the baby rides, and too young for the big scary rides. Disney has some good roller coasters pitched at about Michael and Emma's level, although Michael developed a bit of a dislike for rides that had a big drop on them.
Emma had a bit of a meltdown when we went on Pirates of the Caribbean. We had Magic Bands and were able to book fast passes for rides, meaning we barely had to queue. It's a slow moving vehicle making decisions as a large group with diverse requirements, but we came to the conclusion that given the queue for Pirates was only 15 minutes, we should just queue normally and book another fast pass. Emma didn't like this idea and was in the huff for basically the whole queue and the ride, but managed to turn it around eventually.
Most of the rides were pretty close together. I had completely overexerted myself at Disney last year and the last couple of hours is really just a blur, so I did my best to pace myself. Thankfully (for me), Alan and Alyson usually went home late afternoon as the have Madeleine who is only 3 months old and Camille who is 3, so I usually went home with them.
We also, crucially, managed to avoid any major pieces of sunburn. It was hot and humid, but not often ridiculously so.
The Indiana Jones stunt show was particularly good, I remember.
After I went home, Emma somehow managed to blag herself a free Churro! She was really excited about it. Apparently she had went to pay for it, but the person at the counter just gave it to her for free!
