We stayed in Aberdeen for a few days around Christmas. After much discussion (which always accompanies Adam family gatherings) we agreed to have the Christmas meal on Christmas Eve, and to have the present opening ceremony on Christmas morning. The general consensus was that it was a good idea.
Christmas morning was a lot of fun. The blackburn 4 made it almost on time (there was a threat to dock them presents for every 10 minutes they were late). Michael and Emma were both really well behaved. I had a bit of a bad turn after about an hour of the present ceremony. I went upstairs and slept for an hour, then came back down and there was still plenty to be opened.
The ceremony involves all the presents being placed in piles for the recipients. This is usually done by the youngest member of the family, and there was some discussion as to who this was. It's traditionally Alan, but he pointed out that Alyson, Michael and Emma were all younger than him. Michael did a lot of it, but needed considerable help.
Thanks for all the presents.
(Addendum - James has pointed out that Michael managed to hit about half of the tags correct!)

Emma's photo pose is hilarious!
Michael was actually quite good at reading the names on the presents himself - about 50% he got without help!
