Michael had his 6th birthday party on Saturday. Sarah did a great job of getting everything organised and set up. It all went smoothly, and as Michael told me afterwards, he didn't even cry this year.
Both Michael and Emma have been really well behaved over the weekend, which has been much appreciated.
Sarah had a lot of help from Sarah McGirr and Colette, which she greatly appreciated. Colette took the photos.
There were lots of games like pass the parcel, spin the bottle, duck duck goose, simon says, musical statues and other staples. Sarah even invented some kind of corners game with 8 corners represented by the skylanders elements (she may want to copyright the idea before Activision steal it).
He's asked for a skylanders cake for his birthday. Sarah put a lot of effort into making the portal (the grey/white things) out of cake and icing. Michael was amazed when he saw it, but did mention that he'd hoped that the skylander figures would have been made out of cake as well. He has a lot to learn about tact and his own expectations.
We'd had some snow on Friday, so doing the pinata in the snow was a little surreal. The kids didn't seem to mind at all, and had a great time bashing it. Liam managed to give it an almightly whack, which broke the seal. As the only man present at the time, I felt it was my duty to properly finish off the job. All the kids were very good about sharing the sweeties.
Michael was really grateful for all of his presents.
