Emma embarks on a career in opera
Emma showing that she's inherited her cheekiness from her mother.
The Kochenderfers, who we know from Edinburgh back when we were all young, free and childless now live not far from Boston, and were good enough to come down and see us on the Sunday we were there. Unfortunately I wasn't quite on top form, so didn't manage to make it to church with them, but at least was kind of ok in the afternoon.
It was great to see them, and I'm sure it was as strange for them to see us with children as it was for us to see them with children. They have three children, who are all adorable. Two of them are pretty large for their age, with only (their) Emma being average sized. She was born in Edinburgh, but unfortunately is not eligible for a passport.
It was a kind of controlled chaos with 5 kids all pre-schoolers, toddlers or babies. Luckily, there were no fights or escapees heading towards the swimming pool
