We had a visit from our friend Kirsten from very down south (South Africa via Bracknell) last weekend. It was great to see her again. She was living with us up until Michael was born, and was definately as excited (if not much, much more so) to spend some time with Michael as to spend some time with us.
Kirsten's got some much better photos than the ones I took. Hopefully she'll pass some on so I can post them (if she can get them off her tempermental SD card)
Sarah was able to show her around. Michael's not really got the languate to help with any tour, but he was able to point out what noises sheep and cows (and elephants, ducks, dogs, cat, giraffes and frogs) make.
Kirsten's part scottish, from the Cameron clan, so she was quite keen to find out more about the clan. Her married name was Comrie, so she was also quite keen to see that place too (I think there's a couple of Comrie's nearby, but there's definately one on the way to Dunfermline.
Michael was impressing her with his ability to count to 10. He seems to have a bit of a mental block with 7, but then he is very small.
Sarah, Michael and Kirsten had some bother getting into Edinburgh due to a crash on the Forth Road Bridge. They eventually gave up and got a train into Edinburgh from Inverkeithing, and Michael enjoyed trying to mooch crisps off passers by on the train.
We went up to Inverness for the weekend. We drove the long way up, and I was amazed at how well Michael took the journey. Luckily he's inherited one of Sarah's many talents - the ability to fall asleep on almost any journey. To be honest, he didn't seem too excited by anything we visited that day - Loch Ness, Castle Urquart, Clan Cameron Museum, Inverness, Scone Palace. He was interested in the Peacocks at Scone Palace and the highland cows. He enjoyed playing football, and playing with the phone and cup mats at Neil and Maggies.
For me, it was really nice to go to church in Inverness. I don't really remember it from where we lived up there (i went to the Allness ward anyway), but I've been there a couple of times since. It was nice to try showing Michael how to skip stones in the river ness (he wasn't taking nicely to being in the building itself).
Kirsten's visit has fed my idea that we should get an au pair.
