lawn games

grandad mowing the lawn with michael- note the open toed sandals and nearby rake.

michael and i thinking about tactics for the upcoming game

michael in the lead nearing the finish

a near miss at the end........

...but michael is victorious

not only did granny and grandad black pop by on saturday and fit some cupboards in the utility room and fix a bit of the roof, but grandad also prepared (unknowingly) our back lawn for a game of croquet.

croquet isn't a big tradition in the black family, but it turns out that it is on the adam side. it's amazing what you can marry into without realising it.

we played croquet tonight for family home evening. it was immediately apparent that sarah had a traditional interpretation of the rules, i had a loose idea what i was doing, but michael had a radical interpretation of the rules, which was more like non-stop croquet than the traditional sport. it was fun though, if a little upper-class for tullibody.
