sarah and i are both very happy to be home with emma, and are looking forward to michael coming back this afternoon and shattering our peace!

emma seems to be wanting to feed all the time, but the feeding seems to be getting a little easier. the visiting midwife this morning understated the point when she said that emma would be most active at night at the moment. she was up most of the night, but did rest for a couple of hours here and there. unfortunately (for sarah) she wanted to feed most of the time, but sarah at least managed to get more rest than in the hospital. Because I'm still sick, we're placing a total ban on me sleeping in the same bed as emma, so there was a fair bit of moving around beds last night so that sarah could get some rest, then swapping over so i could get some whilst she fed. we both had a long lie though, and can sleep through the day (at the moment).

when i got to the hospital yesterday i was immediatley keen that sarah come home as soon as possible. the midwives there were really nice, but she was in a room with a woman who'd been kept in because of her blood pressure for 4 days, who moaned to her visitors all day, and started shouting and swearing at the midwives when they said her blood pressure was too high. it's been a while since i've seen someone who's so relentlessly negative that it seemed to suck the energy out from the air, but sarah didn't seem to mind too much.

it was great to see grandma, granddad and uncle alan come to the hospital to help us get home. we'd accumulated a lot of stuff. when we got home uncle alan revealed that he'd got a new bouncing cradle/chair thing for emma. this is great, as it vibrates and plays music, which should hopefully soothe her. it's also handy as we've lost a bit of the last one. it was great to speak to jamie and roz on skype as well.

it was nice to get home. colette had decorated the front door, which was really exciting for sarah!

Glad to hear you're home. Hope your Emma sleeps better than ours did at that age...
