On the Monday, we went up to Disneyland. I did find it strange that many children are probably really keen to go and are not given the opportunity, and Michael doesn't really know anything about it, but has now been.

Marianne and Dale generously let us borrow their spare buggy (stroller). With their two kids, they have a double buggy which Marianne used for Noah and Caden.

The first ride we took Michael on was Pirates of the Caribean, which is now more a ride of the film than the original way it was. It was a water based ride, and we didn't realise that there were some dips in the ride, but Michael didn't seem to mind. He didn't mind the Haunted Mansion either, which he didn't really find scary at all.

Unfortunately Michael "lost" his hat after the Pirates ride. He's never been a big fan of hats, and he managed to get rid of this one when we took our eyes off of him. Sarah went to have a look, but needle in a haystack isn't too much of an overstatement. She generously donated her hat for a while, which didn't really fit but looked quite cute.

After those two rides, Sarah's mum generously offered to take Michael, to allow Sarah and I to go off on some more adventurous rides with David and Alan. It was the closest thing David had to a stag party, but was nice and tame.

Dorothy assures me that she took Michael onto a carousel ride, some dumbo ride, and by the time it got to "It's a Small World" Michael was totally out cold.

I don't know exactly what Michael made of Disneyland. I think he enjoyed all of the bright colours and incessant music. By the time we got him later that night (where I got a root beer float - ahhhhh) he was really tired. Sarah picked him up a toy from Disneyland, which we could tell him about when he's old enough to understand. We ummmed and ahhed a lot about what to get him (I was particularly partial to Boo from Monsters Inc. dressed up as monster), but we opted for something more classic - Mickey Mouse dressed up as the Sorcerer's Apprentice.
