big toys for little boys - in edinburgh

luckily everything went well with the move up to scotland. sarah, michael and sarah's mum cruised up on thursday, and i went up with david (sarah's brother) once he'd finished his job interview in haslemere. we didn't leave wokingham until about 6.30pm, so it was a long, hard drive up to edinburgh. we couldn't hire a van big enough to fit all of our stuff into, but the people buying our house were happy for us to leave some stuff (sofas, white goods, cupboards and a couple of other things). there was a lot of help from the young women from church in bracknell, who packed the kitchen, and oli, john, lou and rhiannon who helped with some of the heavier stuff, and sarah's mum and david who helped out. that van was totally filled to the brim, but i somehow managed to sneak my skateboard in (used twice!).

michael seems to be settling in ok in the flat in edinburgh. there's even less space than we had in binfield, but it's only temporary, so we haven't brought too much stuff. we're looking forward to getting our own place out near stirling. michael (and the same is true for sarah and i) misses a lot of people already from down south. the scots seem to have accepted him so far, but we haven't told most of them that he was actually born in royal ascot, royal berkshire!
