Sandra and Iain got married on 22nd July at the Balbirnie Hotel in Markinch.
It was a great day.
Michael and Emma both had a great time, but I think of the two of them Emma was more in her element. She was the flower girl.
We got their early, and whilst Emma was getting ready Michael and I went for a wee wonder around Balbernie Park. I was disappointed to see that the fantastic swing park that was once there had been knocked down to make more space for parking for the golf course. Philistines!
Everything, as far as we could see, went smoothly. The ceremony was lovely, Iain and Sandra looked great and Emma did her part very well. She really enjoyed having the wand, and used it to shoosh people. She did that quite a lot.
The meal was great. Michael and Emma got some child-friendly chicken nuggets. Uncle Scott and Granddad got some macaroni cheese. Everyone was happy. Thankfully the best man's speech went over Michael and Emma's heads, although if they didn't I thought it was really funny seeing Iain wearing a strawberry-blonde wig. Iain had had quite a bit to drink, and promised to take Emma to Disneyland. We'll hold him to that, even if he couldn't remember it the next morning.
Michael really enjoyed playing with Reece, and also got a great present from my uncle Stan of some junior-sized golf clubs. After the wedding and the meal they both managed to borrow Granddad's iPad, and played games and watched Minecraft videos for a long time. At one point some random woman was trying to encourage them to play hide and seek with them.
Emma really enjoyed dancing, especially with Sandra's friend Callum (who was great with her). She was on the dancefloor until right at the end. She loved the sweetie buffet. Granny and Granddad had booked a room, and were good enough to let Sarah and I stay in it whilst taking Michael and Emma home. Michael and Emma were really amused to see it was past midnight when they left the hotel, and to see it turned into the next day at midnight.
