the zombie walk

michael has a bit of an accident with the hollandaise sauce

Emma, Michael and Sarah have been up to Aberdeen twice in the last couple of weeks. The seem to have had a good time up there. The down side is that emma seems to have learned to say "dog".

Emma's talking is coming along. She says "Appo" for food, probably derived from apple. She says "Emma" every time she does something she knows she shouldn't, as it's what she hears us all saying.

Her walking has come along in leaps and bounds. She managed to walk all the way from our house to the park in our street, although sarah had to convince her to not walk on the road.

It's getting lighter and warmer, and it's been great for Michael to get out and about a bit more. He's complained a couple of times since the clocks went forward that it's too bright for bedtime. Luckily he seems to be getting over it. He was out with a couple of kids from our street on their bikes the other night. It was like bmx bandits, without Nicole Kidman.

Speaking of getting over things, Emma's still having difficulty with getting her teeth brushed. From the noise she makes, you'd think that sarah is water-boarding her in the bathroom. The only time she makes as much noise is when she spots mummy giving michael a cuddle - she gets pretty jealous. Oh - and she gets really upset when she sees someone eating something and she doesn't think she's getting any of it. It's amazing how much food she eats. In stark contrast to michael, who hardly eats anything, especially at mealtimes.

Michael and I played monopoly tonight. Needless to say it was a modified version, where he got all the properties on the expensive side of the board with hotels, and I got the cheap ones. Needless to say he won. He seems to have naturally picked up the celebrations required either as a grandson of alan black or a nephew of the adam brothers in playing monopoly.

Bedtime for Michael has been great for a couple of months now. He usually goes to bed without any fuss, and nothing is seen of him usually until between 7 and 8 in the morning. We often let him look at books for 30 minutes or so after we've put him to bed, then go up and switch off his light. If only the same could be said for emma. she's still a bit of a disaster. the other morning sarah was asking me if I'd put emma in bed beside her, as she couldn't remember going through and picking her out of her cot. emma seems to have a sixth sense for when you're leaving the room after getting her to sleep, and gets very upset. she's usually only getting up a couple of times through the night, which is an improvement. that being said she did wake up last night beside sarah and just started screaming for no apparent reason. If ever there's a market for babies that have lots of head hair and sleeping issues, sarah and i will have the market cornered.

I've tried to get some video of emma walking. I haven't entirely been successful so far. She does walk a bit like a zombie though.
