grandma came down for Michael's birthday. She was greeted with a rather strange exclamation on her arrival. He looked at sarah and said 'grandma! I told you grandma's not dead. It turned out he'd been talking to sarah about her grandparents, and had got confused when sarah had said that her grandma (her maternal one) was dead. He said something similar when watching total wipeout. He got really excited when a contestant surfaced after being underwater for a few seconds and shouted 'she is alive'. It makes me wonder what goes on in his little mind.
the other thing is that sarah gave me a lift into work this morning and as usual michael asked to listen to some songs. A mix cd was in and he was happy and quiet during die all right by the hives, kick out the jams by the presidents of the united states of america and hotel yorba by the white stripes. About 15 seconds into turn by travis, which is a bit slower in pace and more contemplative than the previous offerings, a quiet but absolute voice from the back said 'this song is rubbish!'
