michael's beginning to giggle a little. he's also starting to really handle objects. i saw him last night pulling the dummy out of his mouth, looking at it in the air, then trying to put it back into his mouth. i know it may not sound like rocket science, but all of these things are big steps for him. he's even strarted looking at himself in the mirror, although i'm not convinced he's able to recognise the spiky haired-youth in the reflection as being him.
he's been very good over the last couple of days as sarah and i have been moving a lot of furniture about and tidying up a lot. he did take a bit of a strop the other day for about 30 minutes, and really howled for the first time. sarah had just nipped down to homebase to pick up some stuff, and he screamed for about 30 minutes. after trying everything i could think of (not even his swinging chair helped!) i called sarah, who luckily was almost home. he took some milk which calmed him down a little.
he's increasing the level of his interactions with people, and smiles at people a lot now. he was giggling a little yesterday afternoon, when i was pretending to be a zombie and trying to eat him. maybe he has a really morbid sense of humour, but he especially liked the bit where i explained that i'd leave his brains until last.
his hair is still showing no signs of being controllable in any way, but sarah and i have pretty much given up on that one. he's just going to have to have crazy hair for a bit longer.
